About the role the Money Laundering Team (MLT) role is to proactively investigate money launderers and other facilitators operating within the financial industry. You will work with both internal and external partners to gather intelligence on identified targets, investigate and prosecute identified offences. The MLT also provides specialist support to the National Organised Crime Group (NOCG), whole of Government and Police Districts including assisting in investigations and with the Money Laundering Course held at the Police College.

Your role will involve reviewing and assessing a variety of alleged criminal offending, conducting both financial profiles of identified targets and detailed financial investigations to identify ownership and/or beneficial ownership of assets, determine and quantify legitimate and illegitimate income on an evidenced basis to advance successful court proceedings to restrain and forfeit assets derived from the spoils of crime.

We are looking for a Forensic Accountant who can manage reactive and proactive investigations and financial analysis. Work together with investigation teams both within Police and from external partner agencies, assist with effective interviews, and interact with members of the local and international financial business community. Internal and external partnerships are a key focus and the successful applicant can expect to be heavily involved in investigations associated with multiple departments within Police and our external partners.

Key accountabilities prepare and present (written and verbal) information in a clear and concise manner. Proficient in utilising Excel and other financial analysis tools and experience with income determination methods. Manage time effectively to complete multiple files and meet deadlines

Keep accurate and detailed records of all information and decisions. Prepare, manage and/or investigate files. Manage risk in relation to investigations. Ability to prepare and present evidence at court. Display behaviours consistent with the core values of New Zealand Police and contribute towards the strategic goals of the organization. Analysis of evidence collected from criminal investigations. Manage inter-agency partnerships and relationship management. Ensure delivery and service of documentation to clients.
