Made in the Shade group, known for its commitment to ‘detail orientated’ hospitality venues and brands including Bar Margaux, The Everleigh, Heartbreaker, The Everleigh Bottling Co., Connie’s Pizza and Navy Strength Ice Co., is now searching for an industry experienced and dynamic Financial Controller to lead the finance department.

Do you have a solid reputation as a finance lead in the hospitality or service sectors? You’ll bring well-developed management and leadership skills to this role as you take on the overall responsibility for success of the finance department.

Key accountabilities include not limited to development of annual budgets. Prepare monthly Board reports, including actual results, variations from budget, full year forecast results and KPI results. Coordinate preparation of documentation for and attend Board meetings. Assist in developing the business cash flow adequately supports work activities and produces optimal results.

Ensure any variations to budgets and forecasts are included in Management reports, including any future/potential exposures to the organisation. Prepare financial/statistical reports/dashboards for operational Managers. Coordinate annual capital budget and capital plan. Ensure approved capital expenditure budgets are adhered to at all times. Ensure compliance with all Accounting standards and audit requirements.

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. Ensure compliance with all taxation requirements, including PAYG, FBT, GST and associated lodgement of relevant returns within required timeframes. Assist managers in receiving relevant education and expertise to understand and achieve their financial accountabilities. Oversee the smooth and efficient running of Finance team.Assist the Managing Director by undertaking specific projects as required.

Key selection criteria Bachelor Degree in accounting or commerce; minimum 5 years post-graduate experience. Fully qualified CA or CPA. Competence in Microsoft Office suite of products, in particular Excel and Outlook. Well-developed analytical and communication skills. Has capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically demonstrates well developed.
