As the Finance Officer based in Hobart, you will play a pivotal role in our mission. We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and adaptive individual to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be managing the general ledger and payroll, as well as the provision of timely and accurate data for reporting, making a tangible impact on the lives of young people in the region. This role is offered on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE) with days and times negotiable.

About the role in this role you will be accountable for processing accounts receivable, accounts payable and bank reconciliations. Preparing month-end and year-end closing tasks, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations. Preparing and processing fortnightly payroll and monthly superannuation payments.

Assisting with the annual external audit. Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of budgets. Preparation of management reports. Provision of basic IT support to the Beacon team. Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and accounting standards.

About you, you are committed to effecting real change and making a positive difference in the lives of young Australians. You will have demonstrated minimum of 2 years’ experience in the delivery of accounting and transaction processing operations in a small-medium sized organisation. Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting or related discipline highly desirable.

Studying towards, or membership of, Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia (CPA Australia) or the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ). Strong general IT skills and competency in the use of accounting/payroll software and Microsoft Office.

You will have the ability to manage competing priorities, embrace change and thrive in a busy environment. Have a sound knowledge of the Corporations Act 2001 and Australian Accounting Standards. You are highly organised and systematic but flexible and adaptable.
