About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager – Group Accounting to join our Finance & Strategy team. In this leadership role, you’ll lead a team of three accountants and be responsible for all month-end and year-end processes, statutory and management reporting, audit, and continuous process improvement.
You’ll also act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the business, providing technical accounting expertise and ensuring a robust control environment. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in a complex, purpose-driven organisation.
Key responsibilities
Deliver accurate, high-quality financial and management reporting, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of three accountants to achieve strong performance and capability growth.
Oversee statutory reporting, ILU financial statements, prudential compliance, and submissions under the Retirement Villages Act and Aged Care Act.
Manage the accounting across Residential, Retirement Living, and HACC business streams (Seniors Services).
Drive audit readiness and liaise with external and internal auditors, ensuring efficient processes and strong collaboration.
Provide technical accounting advice (IFRS, AASB, AASB 1058, NFP-specific standards) and prepare position papers on new standards.
Support process improvements, automation initiatives, and enhancements to financial systems and controls.
Partner with colleagues across Finance and the wider business on key projects and reporting initiatives.
Complete quarterly Stewart Brown Surveys, ABS Surveys, and NRSCH reporting requirements.
Champion governance, risk management, and compliance activities.
About you
You are a highly capable finance professional with strong technical expertise and leadership skills. You thrive in complex environments, build strong relationships across the business, and are passionate about continuous improvement.
You’ll bring:
CA/CPA qualification and relevant tertiary degree.
8+ years’ post-qualification experience, including 2+ years in a management role.
Experience from a Big 4 or second-tier audit background (NFP entities desirable).
Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS, AASB standards, statutory reporting).
Proven experience in statutory reporting, audit, and financial compliance.
Subject matter expertise in Aged Care and Retirement Villages Acts (highly regarded).
Strong business partnering skills, with the ability to influence, educate, and advise stakeholders.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a process improvement mindset.
Experience working with ERP systems (MS Dynamics AX, Epicor desirable)
