Description
The Bureau operates under the authority of the Meteorology Act 1955 and the Water Act 2007, and routinely provides the best possible meteorological and hydrological advice and warning services to the Australian Community. Flood warning infrastructure enables the Bureau to provide communities and emergency services with riverine flood forecasts and warnings used to support disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Hydrographic, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation or Metrology/Measurement science Technicians, ideally with previous field experience.

Who are we?
The Observing Operations Hubs are the Bureau of Meteorology's Technical Operations centres comprising of 8 Hubs, one in each capital city and Cairns.
Staff based at the Observing Operations Hub travel far and wide and into remote areas, utilising 4WD's, planes, boats and helicopters to maintain service delivery within the various instrumentation networks. This includes:
Rain Radars
Automatic Weather Stations (AWS)
Upper-Air monitoring systems (Sounding Balloons)
Sea Level Monitoring Stations
Wave and Wave height buoys
Satellite ground reception and space weather instruments
Flood warning/rainfall monitoring systems
Cooperative observers, volunteer rainfall stations
Communications, telemetry and instrumentation systems
We are part of a national maintenance workforce and there is every likelihood of travel to other parts of Australia on occasion to support the other seven Hubs around the country.
We offer specialised, in-house competency-based training on all our equipment and will ensure you have the necessary tools and skills to undertake this work.
