Field Intelligence Officer Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment location Auckland.

Requirement all applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident and are willing to undergo, gain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. All applicants must have a full driver's license.

The role the MBIE Intelligence Unit (MIU) is a new unit tasked with understanding and delivering intelligence services across the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to grow New Zealand for all. The MIU collects, analyses and disseminates intelligence to decision makers so they can assess and manage risk and value at the earliest possible opportunity.

This unit is setting the direction for the development of MBIE's intelligence-informed culture. This is a pivotal and exciting time to become a key player and be part of shaping MBIE's future. This role calls for its own precise mix of skills and abilities. As a Field Intelligence Officer (FIO) within the MIU your experience within an intelligence field, and your range of tools to collect and gather information, will drive work across the business.

You will need to be appropriately self-directed in your field work while understanding your role within the MIU and how the information you collect informs the actions of others.  The role also requires someone with excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills as people skills are a key asset for you to collect information in the field and succeed as an FIO.

The ideal candidate will have visible experience in the operational side of intelligence. Previous work with classified and sensitive material is desirable and timeliness and quality of work is a must. Good understanding of situational awareness. Able to obtain information using appropriate sensitive and investigative techniques. Ability to adapt within a dynamic and fluid environment.

A working knowledge of the business, economic and social environment that MBIE operates in. Proven ability to build and manage key relationships. Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work. Effective problem solving skills and a can do attitude. Excellent communication skills.

The following would be advantageous previous experience with Armed Forces, law enforcement or other regulatory bodies in the public sector. Established networks in the Wellington region. Understanding and awareness of the Wellington regions.
