Purpose of the job this role is responsible for administering DGC's farm research activities by effectively implementing DGC's farm research priorities into successful research. The role will assist in the review of proposed design of trials and oversee farm-based research projects conducted by external research partners to ensure delivery of research outcomes that support DGC's farm research strategic goals. The role is responsible for developing and sustaining strong relationships with all stakeholders both internal and external. Additionally, the role will support the day to day farm operations and will be a crucial link between the Pilot Farm and the company for all farm research matters.

Day to day responsibilities conducting experimental field work according to a protocol. Developing and modifying procedures and techniques as required. Collating data and conducting routine analytical work. Providing technical information to team members. Assisting the SLFR and Shareholder Services team in the preparation of publication material.

Attending and assisting at conferences, field days and hosting of visitors. Supporting the achievement of agreed farm production targets and milk quality targets. Ensuring all animals receive appropriate care and welfare. Ensuring animal records are maintained including numbers, breeding, transfers, weights, health status and milk production. Supporting the day-to-day routine farm operations, such as milking.

Qualifications required for the position A post-graduate university qualification, preferably BSc Hons or Masters in Applied Animal Science skills, knowledge and experience in practical application of farm science. A natural curiosity and desire to innovate. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Ability to work both independently and with a team, self-motivated. Strong relationship development skills.
