It’s an exciting time to join Origin. Creating a great place to work means together we’re progressing our ambition to lead the energy transition through cleaner energy and customer solutions. We’re always looking for better ways to deliver for our customers – and for our people.
About the role:
This strategic role, reporting to the General Manager, is key in managing the development and implementation of the APLNG exploration program to increase APLNG reserves, reduce the portfolio long term cost of supply and reduce the uncertainty related to APLNG’s exploration portfolio.
You will proactively own the growth and optimisation of the existing APLNG resource base by finding and testing resource opportunities within Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
· Delivering the Exploration Program: Manages all aspects of exploration activities, including seismic, drilling, studies, and trials. This encompasses budget, schedule, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
· Identifying Resource Potential: Creates value by finding new resource prospects within current acreage through evaluations and annual reviews, and by identifying low-cost opportunities.
· Developing New Ventures: Identifies and develops new opportunities for APLNG through technical and commercial evaluations, participating in acreage processes, farm-ins, and supporting acquisition/divestment decisions.
· Building Collaborative Teams: Establishes and manages agile project teams from across the Integrated Gas business to execute exploration program requirements.
· Managing Subsurface Staff: Oversees the priorities and workloads of technical staff involved in studies and project management for exploration.
· Supporting Asset Strategies: Contributes to the development and delivery of APLNG's asset strategies and objectives, covering all aspects of lifecycle management (strategic, financial, safety, operational, etc.).
· Providing Insight for Decisions: Ensures accurate and appropriate subsurface, technical, and project insights are provided for decision-making, collaborating to balance viewpoints for optimal value.
What will you bring?
You will role model Origin’s values, be self-driven, with ability to be proactive and take initiative. A team player with ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of people across levels, building positive, productive working relationships.
More about you:
· Deep expertise in subsurface discipline to bolster team depth and play mentoring role
· Ability to understand subsurface uncertainties and risk, mange those risks through program delivery to safely protect value, communicate those risks with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and maximise portfolio value.
· Strong attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
· Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and a proactive mindset for process improvement.
· 15+ years subsurface technical experience, preferably in oil and gas exploration
