Salary range $93,925 - $102,941 and employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. The Mental Health Commission NSW is seeking interested applicants for the position of Executive Support Officer, Office Of the Commissioner (OOC).
This is an exciting opportunity to provide Executive support to the Commissioner, A/Director System Reform and A/Director Operations and Engagement. The Commission is a small agency of around 30 FTE based in the Sydney CBD and working flexibly within hybrid workplace guidelines.

Primary Purpose of the role the Executive Support Officer supports the Commissioner, Executive Officer and wider Executive Leadership Team, in a dynamic, high-volume environment. The role is responsible for providing timely, high quality administrative support to facilitate the efficient and effective service delivery across the Executive Leadership Team. All work performed requires accuracy, efficiency and discretion.
The role assists members of the Executive with administrative tasks, including meetings, recordkeeping, document workflow registration, expense reconciliation, hospitality etc. The role also manages travel bookings for the Commission staff (not the Commissioner. Importantly, the Executive Support Officer works flexibly and voluntarily takes on additional duties to cover workload peaks and absences.
Key accountabilities manage the movement of documents/records to and from the Director?s and Executive Officer's office, including the distribution of incoming and outgoing Correspondence, ensure that all correspondence submitted to and prepared by the Commissioner and Executive Officer conforms to corporate style, format and content protocols.
Manage travel arrangements for all Commission staff; tasks will include all transport and accommodation bookings and the preparation of itineraries. Assist in the management of the regular staff meeting including preparation of agendas, taking action minutes, and coordinating attendance, reports and presentations.
Ensure reconciliation of expenses in incurred by the Executive Team are processed efficiently and recorded appropriately. Coordinate in-office meeting arrangements and provide appropriate hospitality to visitors. For full list of key accountabilities please refer to the PD.
Key challenges exercising day-to-day independence in organising work, determining priorities, prioritising various requests from staff, and deciding on routine matters in a dynamic and high-volume working environment.
Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility, and responding quickly when tasks, personnel or priorities change. Coordinating tasks and seeking cooperation/ information from stakeholders at all levels, often under pressure of tight deadlines.
Essential criteria demonstrated understanding and experience of the NSW Mental Health System. Substantial experience in a senior administrative role, preferably within government agencies with a demonstrated capacity to work effectively at the executive level and evidence of continued development.
Proven ability to Work effectively with the Executive support staff to ensure to effectively manage operations. Proven ability to work autonomously and exercise day to day independence but also work effectively as part of a team.
Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility, and responding quickly when tasks, personnel or priorities change.
