Events Specialist TIA location Wellington.
Are you ready to be part of the team delivering New Zealand’s largest international tourism event. Join Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) as a temporary Events Specialist and play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences at TRENZ and our other member events. This is a short-term contract of up to six months, starting immediately, with TRENZ taking place in Rotorua from 6–8 May 2025.
About the role as an events specialist, you will provide essential support to the team to ensure the success of TRENZ and our other key events.
Support and lead aspects of assigned event delivery, managing specific aspects when required (including but not limited to) Venue liaison. Catering, AV requirements, and other suppliers. Speaker coordination, speaker briefing documents, MC arrangements and scripts, travel and accommodation.
Supporting health and safety compliance, risk management and driving sustainability initiatives. Assisting with the planning of our member events series and the Tourism Summit Aotearoa and New Zealand Tourism Awards. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute at both an operational and strategic level, working closely with a passionate team to deliver exceptional events.
About you, we are looking for someone who can join us immediately for a short-term contract opportunity of up to six months. TRENZ will be held in Rotorua between 6-8 May so you must be available in the lead up to and for the event.
You will be an experienced events professional with experience delivering and supporting large scale events. Be a natural relationship builder, being able to quickly establish rapport and lasting relationships. Be able to contribute at both an operational and strategic level to support the team.
Be comfortable supporting all aspects of event delivery, this could range from leading some aspects and providing coordination support to the team. Experience and/or knowledge of the tourism industry is desirable but not essential.
