Rangiora Veterinary Centre Equine are seeking a dedicated and experienced Equine Veterinarian to join their team.

About us:
We are a busy ambulatory practice with an onsite equine hospital and surgical facilities dedicated to providing exceptional care to our equine athletes. Our team are committed to best practice in veterinary medicine providing first opinion and referral services to horse owners and veterinarians of North Canterbury and the South Island of New Zealand.
Rangiora Veterinary Centre is a large mixed practice established over 50 years ago and is situated 25 minutes north of Christchurch City, 10 minutes to the beach, and 1 hour to the mountains. Our equine hospital and ambulatory team are growing which has created an exciting opportunity for a veterinarian with experience and passion in racehorse and performance horse medicine to join our dynamic and clinically diverse team of seven equine veterinarians including a specialist surgeon.
Our facilities include an equine hospital with barn and paddocks, surgical theatre, equine CT scanner, digital radiography, ultrasonography, videoendoscopy, dynamic endoscopy, orthobiologics, shock wave and an in house laboratory.
Position overview:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high performance equine athletes and possess expertise in diagnosing and treating conditions specific to this population.
Responsibilities:
Providing comprehensive veterinary care to racehorses and performance horses, including preventative care, lameness evaluations, diagnostic imaging, and performance improvement strategies.
Collaborate with our team of veterinarians, farriers, and other equine professionals to develop tailored treatment plans for each horse.
Participate in client education and communication helping owners understand the specific needs and requirements of their equine athletes.
Participation in the emergency after-hours roster.
Show strong written communication including maintenance of accurate medical records.
Requirements:
Veterinary degree registerable with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand.
Proven experience working with racehorses and performance horses with a good understanding of their requirements.
Strong technical skills relating to diagnostics and treatment of the performance horse population.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in inhalational anaesthesia is desirable.
