Emergency Management Officer Waikato Regional Council location Waikato. $83,000 – $94,000 per year.

About the role influence and work with the other Council teams as we work towards “holistic” emergency management. Ensure the Council is ready, and staff and stakeholder agencies are trained to respond to and recovery from emergency events.

Plan for and prepare for the foreseeable events that can impact the communities of the City. Support planning and preparation for recovery from emergencies. Educate and help community organisations to make themselves ready and able to cope with emergencies. Reports within the Waikato Regional Council's Civil Defence team, but placed at Hamilton City Council.

About you communicate with all sorts of people from a wide range of organisations and you have strong influencing skills. Successfully deliver multiple projects concurrently. You are a planner and are well organised. Comfortably deliver training and education and run workshops and hui.

Develop and write plans and procedures. Comfortably work alongside Māori, Pasifika, new migrant and other sectors represented in the communities. It's useful if you have emergency management or local government experience but most importantly you have a learning and can-do attitude.

Qualifications and experiencetertiary degree or equivalent experience in emergency management or similar role. A minimum of 5 years relevant experience. CIMS 2 & CIMS 4 (or equivalent). Full NZ Drivers Licence.

About us the Waikato Region CDEM Group comprises a consortium of 11 local authorities, emergency services, lifelines utilities, welfare organisations, government and non- government organisations operating in the central area of New Zealand’s North Island, referred to as the Waikato region.

The organisation responsible for coordinating the efforts of the Waikato CDEM Group is the Group Emergency Management Office (GEMO). This office operates under a work programme developed by a representative group of local authority executives and is administered by the Waikato Regional Council.
