The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia are seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to join the Super Hornet Sustainment team. The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, assessing and coordinating environmental health and safety programs and processes for the Air Combat and Electronic Attack Enterprise Program to ensure regulatory compliance and the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment.
This role will suit someone with an aerospace or complex project background, who will understand the complexities of a large Defence program.
This role is based onsite at RAAF Base Amberley, near Ipswich in QLD.
As an EHS Specialist you will:
Leveraging WHS processes, tools and data and communities of practice to enhance WHS outcomes and management in an environment with multiple stakeholders under both BDA and Commonwealth safety management systems.
Working directly with and for the customer, evaluating and providing advice for management of WHS hazards associated with Super Hornet operations and maintenance and supporting the implementation of effective risk management processes.
Performing inspections and audits, investigating incidents and providing advice regarding corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of incidents.
Reporting on the program safety system's compliance to meet Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulatory requirements.
Providing WHS change impact assessment input to changes across all aspects of the enterprise and providing direct support to new projects and programs.
Providing WHS assessments for new technical manuals, materials, products, equipment and projects within the Enterprise.
Maintaining coordination and relationships across sub-contractors, industry partners, and operational Squadrons within the enterprise.
Managing workplace surveillance programs including occupational hygiene aspects.
Conducting education and training to support regulatory and business requirements for the Program; and
Evaluating the impact and providing advice on new regulations and the likely impact to enterprise operations.
To be considered for this role you will:
Have tertiary qualifications in Health, safety and Environment with at least 5 years of EHS experience in an operational environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform with minimal direction and the ability to exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
Thorough knowledge of Australian WHS and Environmental laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of the ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
Strong time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet target dates in a very fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated experience working within a highly regulated environment; and
Working knowledge or familiarity with Defence/Aerospace Industry.
Experience working in complex operations or high hazard facilities.
