About the role the Early Resolution team is a newly created early resolution service for resolving employment problems arising from the effects of Covid-19. Be part of the team that assists people to resolve their employment problems through a variety of fast, flexible and fair processes appropriate to use at an early stage instead of formal mediation or labour standards investigation. You will help employees and employers resolve their problems promptly.

You'll provide assistance, information, facilitation, in order to assist employees and employers to resolve their issues. Labour Standards Early Resolution Officer is an ideal position to build on your career dealing with employment relations issues.  You will be expected to work autonomously, have a proactive approach to your work, keep up-to-date with changes in the legislation and adhere to deadlines.  You will also contribute to the developing service and actively take part in team quality and review processes.

In this role you will gain knowledge of the employment sector, dispute resolution, minimum employment standards legislation, problem solving and working with people. You will be provided with regular guidance and professional development.

Skills and experience required experience in HR, industrial relations, labour standards, complaint management, facilitation and/or negotiation would be an advantage.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with people from different backgrounds and ethnicities. Ability to act impartially. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to make effective and sound decisions. Flexibility in approach to problem solving. Effective questioning ability to understand client's circumstances and identify underlying issues and apply relevant legislative/policy principles.

Ability to be a professional influence in challenging situations. Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records. Strong team player with ability to work collaboratively. Highly learning, agile and with strong ability to contribute to and support a team learning culture. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise your workload. Must have legal right to live and work in NZ.
