The role Macquarie University is seeking a transformational leader to take on the newly created opportunity of Director, Application Services within our Information Technology department.  This critical role will be focused on driving the development roadmap and application lifecycle of Applications within the University including the planned retirement and obsolescence of applications together with the creation of a core portfolio of standard application offerings, both internally developed and vendor sourced applications, to optimise the University's application offerings.

You will lead a large Application Services team through change and transformation of applications, whilst working in close collaboration with senior Architecture Services colleagues to ensure strategic alignment. This is an exciting time to join our expanding IT Senior Leadership team, as we unlock the huge potential of technology at Macquarie University.

About you will be a highly experienced leader with demonstrable experience in the development, support, sourcing and optimisation of IT Applications, with a strong track record of remediating and maximising applications within large, complex organisations. You are passionate and skilled in driving transformational business results and building high-performance teams to deliver these outcomes with a strong service focus.

You are highly collaborative in your approach and build positive working relationships with both colleagues and stakeholders to achieve strategically aligned outcomes.

10+ years' experience managing a large and varied portfolio of applications for a major organization. Recent experience in rationalising a 200+ applications portfolio within a large complex enterprise, with an understanding of tertiary sector issues and dynamics. Track record of achievement in digital/ICT Application implementation/development and support in a large and complex environment.

Demonstrated transformational leader, with experience building a high-performance, efficient and skilled team with a strong service-orientation in a complex, critical environment. Significant experience in dealing with multiple senior stakeholders with differing priorities. Experienced in change management and strong communication skills, with an ability to operate effectively in a complex environment.
