CMS Electracom, an electrical product manufacturer is looking for a Product Design Engineer with a strong mechanical design aptitude to work from their office in Kings Park, Western Sydney. Looking for a new Product Design opportunity. Want to be fairly autonomous working in a small team contributing to the design of electrical/ mechanical products. Like to design complex products. We are looking for a talented Design Engineer who has a proven track record in product design.  You must have good experience in design of plastic injection moulded parts and sheet metal parts. Experience in turret punched parts and aluminium extrusions is advantageous. It is expected that you will have worked in this type of design role for at least 5 years and that this will be demonstrable with a portfolio of self-designed products, which have gone through to commercial sales.

It would also be advantageous to have qualifications in Industrial Design, Engineering, Drafting or equivalent and have skills in designing for a broad range of plastic and metal manufacturing methods.

Key responsibilities plastic and sheetmetal product design. Customisation of current products. Prototyping and verification of design. Create detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings and renderings. Inspection, testing and validation of the final product. Provide technical support and job specific sales drawings, installation instructions etc.

Essential skills has strong demonstrated skills creating plastic and sheet metal product design using Solidworks. Ability to generate aesthetically and ergonomically pleasing designs. Experience in Design for manufacturing – injection moulding, press tools. Has knowledge and skills to generate detailed and toleranced drawings using Solidworks. Has good attention to detail. Good ability to work in a team and with other departments. Good written and verbal skills in English.

Desirable skills experience in designing electrical products. Experience in Solidworks PDM is an advantage. Previous experience in injection mould and press tool making. This is a full-time position located at Kings Park in Sydney. You must have the right to work in this locality to apply for this role.
