Dental Hygienist (Part-Time – Wednesday & Friday)

We are currently recruiting for a part-time Dental Hygienist to join our team at RAAF Base Amberley, working Wednesday and Friday each week. Serco Australia, in partnership with Bupa, delivers integrated healthcare services to the Australian Defence Force across Australia. We provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.

About the Location

RAAF Base Amberley is the largest Air Force Base in Australia, located approximately 50 minutes from Brisbane. The base provides operational and maintenance support for the precision strike element of the Air Combat Group, including F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft. It also supports Australia’s strategic air lift capability, including KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), C-17 Globemaster III heavy lift aircraft and C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifters.

The on-base health centre delivers primary medical, aviation medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health and pharmaceutical services to more than 6,500 RAAF members.

Standard operating hours are generally:

0700–1630 Monday to Thursday (depending on role requirements)
5.5-hour half day on Friday
Your part-time schedule will align with Wednesday and Friday clinical operations.

About the Role

Working under the supervision and prescription of a Dentist/Dental Specialist, you will provide high-quality dental hygiene services to eligible ADF personnel.

Routine dental hygiene treatments including scale and cleans, root planing and implant maintenance
Periodontal charting, examinations, reviews and referrals
Oral health promotion and preventative education
Assisting during operative procedures when required
Implementing and maintaining infection control procedures in line with national and Defence standards
Managing patients in accordance with approved clinical protocols
Maintaining accurate electronic health records
You will deliver services in accordance with professional standards, legislation and Defence policies, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality care.

About You

You are a confident clinician who works well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a strong commitment to patient care and professional standards.

To be successful, you will have:

Current, unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Dental Hygienist or Oral Health Therapist with AHPRA
Minimum 2 years’ full-time (or equivalent) adult dental hygiene experience within the last 5 years
Recent CPD participation in line with AHPRA requirements
Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certification
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be an Australian Citizen To obtain and maintain an Australian Baseline Security Clearance
