Reporting to the DC Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Prestons warehouse. Working closely with a team of Supervisors across different shifts, you will lead the team to drive performance across the site and provide front line operational support, ensuring customer service levels are maximised and supply rates are achieved on a continuous basis.
As a leader within the business, you will play an instrumental role in creating and implementing processes and procedures, driving best practice and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise efficiencies and improve operational performance.
We’re looking for a strong leader who displays mentorship, drive and the ability to motivate a team. You will have strong initiative and enthusiasm, be able to make crucial decisions independently and possess excellent supply chain knowledge and a willingness to progress within the company.
Key responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the DC to ensure tasks, providing support to the DC Manager as required
Lead, coach and develop a team of Supervisors across different shifts, supporting and motivating them to develop a high performing operations team, ensuring compliance to all policies and procedures, providing clear expectations and ongoing feedback and support
Foster a proactive culture within the facility, making safety a top priority
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships, both internal and external, based on mutual respect and commitment to deliver exceptional service on time-sensitive supply chain deadlines
Efficient resource allocation ensuring labour, equipment and transport are utilized to maximise both safety and profitability while meeting the customers’ needs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction
Analyse data and performance metrics to drive and embed continuous improvement
Implement strategic initiatives to optimize the overall value of the business and contribute to its growth and success
Establish and ensure maintenance programs are carried out
Ensure consistent demonstration of guiding principles, behaviours and Inghams values
Key requirements:
Experience in managing warehouse and distribution centres with a proven track record of achieving positive operational outcomes
Excellent knowledge of supply chain logistics within an FMCG environment including demonstrable understanding of Cold Chain Operations, Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP
Ability to lead and influence a diverse team in a dynamic and fast paced environment
Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives including knowledge of 5S, Total Productive Manufacturing, LEAN/Six Sigma
Willingness to take initiative and drive results to ensure business KPIs are met and exceeded whilst upholding the highest levels of safety and customer service
Strong people leadership and engagement skills with the ability to build a collaborative working environment
Strong analytical skills with effective P&L and budget management skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate cross functionally to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and adapt in a dynamic business environment
Resilient and able to recover from setbacks
Additional experience working in a production environment will be advantageous.
On call availability (24/7) to support the team when required
Ability to coach, develop and mentor team members through appropriate levels of delegation
Ability to work flexible hours to cover all shifts, weekends and public holidays as required
