Data Engineer (Migration, Python, SQL) - Contract

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer who has strong experience and skills across data migration to join a team in Auckland, New Zealand, for an initial 3-month contract with the potential for extension. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a critical project and contribute to the operational data platform.

Role: Data Engineer - Migration Specialist
Location: Auckland, NZDuration: 3 months contract (initially), with a chance of extension
Project: The database migration process involves transferring data from the old database to the new one. This task includes modifying table structures and potentially adding new tables due to schema differences between the databases. The migration scripts must be reliable and robust, requiring extensive testing on the test instance. Additionally, it is essential to replace outdated data pipelines with equivalent ones on the OpData Platform and integrate automation with other internal systems.

Overview responsibilities:

Transfer data between the old and new databases.
Modifying existing table structures and creating new ones as needed.
Ensure the migration scripts are reliable and robust.
Replace outdated data pipelines with new ones using the Operational Data Platform.
Write Python code leveraging pre-existing libraries or frameworks like SETLR.
Key Skills:

Strong data migration experience / skills

Familiarity with another scripting language
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and documentation skills
On offer: Comp. hourly rates, 3 month initial contract with extension opportunities, ASAP start, Central Auckland location, onsite working with car park, full-time 40 hours per week contract, weekly pay.
