Customer and Animal Care Officer RSPCA New South Wales Gosford and Central Coast.

As Australia's pre-eminent animal welfare organisation, the RSPCA provides a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. Our Care Centre at Tuggerah is a shelter outreach facility that includes an adoption centre, retail products, pet advisory service and community education and events.

We currently have a casual opportunity for a Customer & Animal Care Officer. This role provides high quality advice and guidance to customers, volunteers and other staff regarding RSPCA related matters and animal care duties for adoption animals. Tuggerah Care Centre operates on a 7-day roster (8am-6pm with late opening Thursday to 7.30pm).

Responsibilities also include provide a ‘centre of excellence’ regarding the delivery of service at an operational level. Greet customers entering retail area. Provide exceptional customer service and advice, including taking bookings. Resolve customer complaints and escalate as required. Ensure the wellbeing of animals in the care of RSPCA NSW. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and disease control.

Animal care including cleaning of enclosures, administering medication, exercising, feeding, and providing enrichment. Retail duties including taking payments, stock control, stocktake, daily banking, and stocking shelves. Administration duties including responding to customer enquairies and reporting. Promoting a positive image of RSPCA NSW to members of the public and other stakeholders. Ad hoc duties as reasonably requested by the Care Centre Manager.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience certificate II in Animal Studies. Previous experience in animal handling. Previous experience in a customer service role. Previous Microsoft Office, MYOB and EFTPOS skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Conflict resolution and mediation skills. Strong computer literacy. Reasonable level of fitness. Ability to take initiative and implement new processes. Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
