About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a CSI-IPT DDG Safety Engineer to join our Combat Systems & Integration line of business based at Adelaide.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Reporting to the CSI-IPT DDG Safety Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring that Program Safety activities are undertaken in accordance with the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP).
You will also be responsible for conducting safety analyses, managing the CSI Hazard Log, the preparation and update of safety artefacts and attendance at safety meetings.
Key responsibilities include:
Process definition and conduct of analyses to identify Safety and Environmental risks emergent from the Combat System design changes, generally in accordance with MIL-STD 882E, including:
System Requirements Hazard Analysis (SRHA)
Preliminary Hazard List (PHL)
Health Hazard Analysis (HHA)
Environmental Hazard Analysis (EHA)
Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA)
Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA)
Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA)
System Hazard Analysis (SHA)
Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA)
Preparation of safety artefacts including Safety Case Report (SCR), System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Hazard Analysis Report (HAR), Hazard Log (HL), safety related registers and supporting safety analysis
Manage Contract Data Deliverable List (CDRL) deliveries to the customer, assure customer receipt, and manage customer comment resolution with appropriate authors
Support the interface and integration of the safety program within the wider CSI-IPT organisation, processes and deliverables, including:
Design, Production and Test (including definition and implementation of Engineering Change Proposals)
Systems Engineering (including requirements, architecture, verification and validation)
Other Speciality Engineering disciplines (including Topside Design, Security, Human Systems Integration, Support System)
Preparation, attendance and contribution to internal and customer meetings including System Safety Working Groups, Mandated System Reviews and Incremental Progress Reviews
Provision of advice and guidance to stakeholders across the CSI-IPT with respect to System Safety Management and Engineering activities
About YOU
Degree in Engineering Discipline from a recognised institution
Completed formal safety training (desirable)
Significant experience across the System Safety lifecycle using standard System Safety methods, tools and techniques
Significant experience working in an engineering Project Environment (preferably within the Defence Industry)
Understanding of WHS Act and Regulations and how they relate to System Safety including application of SFARP principles
Experience with Navy Harmonised Risk Matrix (HNRM)
Experienced with DOORS database and Hazard Bowtie XP (or equivalent) software
Experience managing secure/sensitive data
Experience working with Commonwealth Objective and CMT-U
Understanding/experience with MIL-STD 882E (desirable)
Experience with qualitative and quantitative safety analysis techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), etc
A current Australian Defence security clearance NV1 or above
Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
