Companion - support person Private Advertiser location Wellington. $23.15 – $28 per hour.

We are looking for a person to assist a female to have a ‘good life’.  She is capable, fun to be with, has a good sense of humor and a mild learning disability. You will have an opportunity to make a real difference in this person's life, while enabling her to live a life similar to others in their early thirties.

Key responsibilities are to assist this person to achieve her good life goals/vision while growing her confidence and skills, maintain and improve her health and wellbeing, participate in her community, including with volunteer work, organise her schedule using her cellphone, email, the internet and Co-pilot, deal with any IT and other issues that arise.

This role is more about being the right person and fit for the Team than your work experience to date.  You will be caring, responsible, trustworthy and reliable, physically fit and able to go walking, biking and do aqua-fitness, a problem solver with common sense and a sense of humor to deal with changing plans and situations, an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills and empathy, a motivator who can work independently and as part of a team, a good organiser who pays attention to detail.

You would join an existing team and work in the persons home/flat in Khandallah and out in the community. You will primarily use public transport although a full driver's licence would be helpful from time to time. You must be living in New Zealand.

Workdays and hours you must be able to work 3 to 5 hours on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.  An additional 1 to 3 hours work may be available on Thursdays and during some weekends.
