This year marks The Foundation’s 30th anniversary of carrying on the legacy of Professor Fred Hollows, who believed every person had the right to quality eye care, no matter where they live.

The Foundation has grown to work in more than 25 countries throughout Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, as well as Australia. The Foundation has restored sight to more than 3 million people worldwide.

About you you will be a communications and events guru! Creating content for a variety of audiences across different mediums will be your bread and butter. You will be adaptable to tone and key messaging, able to adjust your style to meet our expectations.

You will be extremely organised, with a high attention to detail, able to edit your own work to delivery high quality communications. You will have strong planning skills, coupled with the ability to proactively deliver tasks, while managing competing priorities and requests. Further, you will be customer focused, as well as highly responsive to requests, producing accurate and timely advice is a key part of this role.

You will have the ability to work independently and manage your own time while still being part of a close team. Finally, you will have strong technical skills across the Microsoft suite as well as the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.

The opportunity the Communications Coordinator is accountable for organising communications activities, events and administrative work in line with The Foundation’s brand strategy and strategic framework.

Key responsibilities plan, develop and implement The Foundation’s communications events, including the Fred and Humanity Awards. Ensure effective coordination of events by coordinating logistics with suppliers and partners, and developing communications material, such as event briefs, speaking points and run sheets.

Act as a point of liaison for the Communications team and carry out administrative tasks. Support the production and on-time delivery of publications including the Annual Report and Fred’s Vision magazine. Maintain The Foundation’s online systems and portals, including Storybank and Photoshelter.

Coordinate and represent the Communications team at internal collaborative networks and meetings, including drafting agendas and conducting follow-up on action items. Collaborate with other teams internally to grow The Foundation’s brand and fundraising activities.

What you’ll need to succeed experience in a communications coordination, communications support and/or event coordination role. Experience writing for public-facing communication materials such as newsletters and media releases. Ability to coordinate administration and logistics with multiple stakeholders.

Desirable experience experience in a customer facing role. Experience in the international development & NFP sector. Undergraduate qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Event Management or related disciplines.
