Additional information:
• The internal job title for this position is Unit Food Commercial Manager.
• This is a permanent, full-time role (76hrs/fortnight) based on-site at IKEA Rhodes.
• The role requires flexible availability, including a mix of day and evening shifts between 7:00am and 9:30pm.
• You must also be available to work alternating fortnightly weekend shifts, including both Saturdays and Sundays.
About this work area
The role of Commercial Restaurant Manager is unique within the IKEA store. You are not only the “shopkeeper” of all IKEA Food areas – including the Swedish Restaurant, Bistro, and Swedish Food Market – but also lead customer service, merchandising, logistics, active selling, and ISAN (In Shape As New – ensuring all equipment and areas are well-maintained and visually appealing).
You are responsible for analysing and driving performance through KPIs, adapting to seasonality and special events (both in-store and externally), and following up on the results of activities and changes. A strong understanding of food safety and quality standards is essential, as is the ability to support kitchen operations when required.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Leading and delivering the commercial strategy and calendar for IKEA Food, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to align with business goals.
Creating a seamless and memorable customer experience across all IKEA Food areas by championing exceptional service and a memorable dining experience.
• Securing excellence in operations and high-quality standards of customer experience in all Food areas and optimised levels of commerciality are achieved.
• Building a competent and confident food team by securing the right skills, training, and support to meet both customer and business needs.
• Acting on customer feedback, commercial opportunities, and performance data, while keeping a close eye on trends, competitors, and supply planning.
• Overseeing all IKEA Food areas – the Swedish Restaurant, Bistro, and Swedish Food Market – ensuring they are engaging, efficient, and commercially successful.
In this role, the key success indicators are sales, customer satisfaction, co-worker satisfaction, and conversion rate, turning store visitors into food customers.
As Commercial Restaurant Manager you have:
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar leadership role within a fast-paced hospitality or retail environment.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and manage a team of 15+ Co-workers, with a strong belief in driving business success through others.
• A passion for food and extensive experience in food service or customer-facing environments, always ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
• A solid understanding of commerciality, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively to position IKEA Food as a profitable and relevant part of the business.
• A curiosity for exploring new ideas and commercial opportunities, and the drive to take fast, purposeful action to maximise sales.
• Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, enabling you to confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels and deliver projects on time in a high-volume, structured setting.
