About the Epilepsy Department

The Department of Neurology at Austin Health is one of Victoria’s largest and most comprehensive neurology units, renowned for its excellence in clinical care, research, and education It has established an international reputation in the management of stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis

 

The Bladin-Berkovic Comprehensive Epilepsy Program was the first Epilepsy Unit to be established in Australia, and one the leading Epilepsy services worldwide. Major research aspects of the program include epilepsy genetics, advanced imaging, the pharmacological treatment of epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, neuromodulation / epilepsy DBS, epilepsy and pregnancy, and neuropsychology.

 

About the role

The Epilepsy Fellow position is designed to Observe duties of this position managing patients with Epilepsy and other neurological conditions efficiently to the standards of the Neurology department, including participating in the Austin Health performance appraisal program and being involved in teaching, training, and research activities.

 

A regular day will see you:

Observe shared Management of inpatients admitted under the Epilepsy units
Regular attendance of Epilepsy and First Seizure outpatient clinics
Reporting of outpatient and inpatient scalp (video-)EEG, and stereo-EEG

About you

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) - (note eligible applicants will be assisted through this process)
Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Neurology/Epilepsy
Ongoing Modified Rankin Scale Certification
