About the role

Council is committed to protecting the physical, emotional, cultural and social wellbeing of children and young people. The Child Safe and Compliance Advisor will coordinate and facilitate Council's child safety program and will be responsible for working across the organisation to support the development and implementation of policies, systems and processes to ensure compliance with the legislation and Victorian Child Safe Standards.

The Child Safe and Compliance Advisor will also work with key stakeholders to educate staff and the community in relation to their obligations for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, including the prevention, investigation and reporting of all child abuse and ensure Council's compliance with the Reportable Conduct Scheme and the mandatory reporting requirements for nominated professionals.

This is a full-time temporary role until 30 June 2026 working across all Council locations. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be $95,488.69 to $104,288.00 pro-rata (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will bring to this role

The key selection criteria for this role are:

High level understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards, legislation and the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
High level project, program and change management skills and experience
Ability to develop, implement and monitor compliance of policy and procedures across a diverse workforce
High level of interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, influence and adapt messages to different audiences
Strong written communication and report writing skills
