Te Oranganui is an iwi governed organisation that was established in 1993 to improve access and service delivery of health and social services to Māori and community in the Whanganui Region. Te Oranganui delivers a wide range of health and social services to Whanganui and throughout the region.

Te Oranganui’s aspiration is to become the leading innovator within Māori social services while taking a whānau-centred approach to improving the wellbeing of whānau and addressing individual needs within a whānau context.

To achieve this goal, we are putting in place a new, strategic level executive leadership team to empower the organisation to develop and drive through the change placing whānau at the centre of service design and delivery. The executive leadership will challenge the status quo and lead innovation and strategy to achieve improved and equitable social and economic outcomes for whānau.

The opportunity in this newly created position, you will play a pivotal role in driving the business strategy and vision forward whilst bringing a dynamic and visionary approach. While working closely with the Executive Leadership team, the COO will lead the operational functions of Te Oranganui and will be instrumental in driving strategic initiatives and creating positive outcomes for whānau.

As a member of the Executive Leadership team the COO will have the rare and exciting opportunity to positively lead a change environment and unify our practice approach from a whānau-ora and kaupapa perspective.

Your impact lead the vision Drive development and implementation as a valuable collaborator to the CEO and Executive Leadership team whilst leading the Senior Management team across the health, education, justice and social service sectors.

Drive innovation Identify new innovations and knowledge for Kaupapa Māori service delivery and improve practice capability and capacity. Whānau-centred approach work with the management team to establish integrated relevant care pathways, implement best practices and improvements to an individual’s and whānau experience.

Strategic partnerships Manage stakeholder engagement and partnerships with critical roles to support strategic direction and service delivery. Champion excellence Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance within the organisation and with external stakeholders. Operational success Lead and oversee professional practice to ensure kaimahi grow and develop in order to deliver perceptive and trusted services.

About you significant experience in a strategic leadership role ideally within a variety of industries including health and social services. Proven experience leading leaders and senior kaimahi including building capability, improving team performance and managing significant change periods. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing high quality strategic plans and initiatives.

Proven track record in building, maintaining and influencing relationships and partnerships. Demonstrated commitment to whānau wellbeing and a whānau-centred approach. Insight into complex health needs and social issues facing Māori. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with a range of audiences and inspire support. Understanding of the local context in which Te Oranganui operates.
