NFPAS (Not for Profit Accounting Specialists) is coordinating this recruitment assignment on behalf of our client, the Ngrragoonda Aboriginal Corporation (NAC) who administers land on behalf of the Gudjula People (GPL).  The GPL are the recognised land owners of approximately 10,600 square kilometres of land across the Regional Shire Councils of Etheridge, Flinders and Charters Towers in North Queensland.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role is a newly created key strategic leadership role with NAC. Reporting directly to the Board of Gudjala People Limited, the successful incumbent will be responsible for managing GPL’s operations and the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategy, vision and business plan.

Key responsibilities leading the overall efficient management of strategic, operational and financial practices for the organisation, your responsibilities will also include provide strong support, leadership and direction to all employees.

Ensure governance, risk management and quality assurance standards compliance. Liaise with key stakeholders and funding partners to identify and pursue additional opportunities. Ensure compliance of NAC’s practices, systems, policies and record management in accordance with applicable government legislation, operating procedures and directives.

People/human resources management. Develop and maintain a supportive, respectful and motivated team culture.  Development and delivery of Community Services. Financial management.

Experience & competencies tertiary qualification(s) in Commerce, Business or a Management related discipline (highly desirable) or other relevant experience or qualification. At least five years demonstrated experience preferably within an Aboriginal environment and/or remote regions of Australia (highly desirable). Cultural competency together with an understanding of the Native Title Act, QLD Cultural Heritage Act and Land Act and/or willingness to obtain.

Successful management/leadership track record. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to offer innovative solutions. Quality focused with demonstrated ability to understand and manage the delivery of quality service delivery standards. Ability to understand financial management processes. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Personal attributes well organised with excellent time management and initiative. Pragmatic and logical in approach. Focused and results driven. Empathetic, friendly and professional approach. This is a ‘hands on’ role’ so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable to work collaboratively with the Board, and other key stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve the organisations goals and vision, whilst exemplifying personal commitment and integrity that will positively lead NAC into the future.
