Job Description
Your opportunity to join our Farming Team
As Breeder Farm Manager in Beaudesert, you will manage a 4-shed farm housing over 35,000 birds and work with a close-knit team with full responsibility for the husbandry of the birds and the day-to-day operations for the farm. This role will be accountable for the achievement of production standards, staff training and supervision, and ensuring compliance with strict biosecurity and health and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee the daily operations of the farm and staff with responsibility for achieving production standards
Husbandry management of the flock, ensuring all livestock is treated humanely, and in compliance with Ingham’s Minimum Standard Procedures
Mortality checks and managing vaccinations of the flock
Lead, coach, and develop the team to ensure they meet performance goals
Drive a strong safety culture and corrective and preventative safety programs with a focus on safety
Oversee all farm maintenance work and engage with contractors for repairs as required
Identify, drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency programmes
Ensure Quarantine requirements are implemented, and Biosecurity measures adhered to
Collect and collate data for research and animal husbandry purposes
Advise producers on farming techniques and management and production processes
Arrange the supply of medications, vaccines and other chemicals to Farmers and Farm Managers, and giving advice on their use
Operate and maintain technological systems and equipment used in farm production, including analysing data and preparing reports
Operate and maintain animal health and feed monitoring equipment
Provide advice on breeding selection and techniques
Examine and consider environmental and other factors that influence the growth, health and production of livestock
You will bring to this role
Previous hands-on experience in a similar farming operations role in the poultry industry or similar
Experience in leading, coaching and motivating a team
A good understanding of modern breeder farming methods, a commitment to animal welfare and an interest in, and understanding of, the ways in which farming impacts the environment
Ability to work outside in all weathers and undertake hand on jobs as well as attending to office duties
Strong computer skills with proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite
High attention to detail and demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organize work demands and meet tight deadlines
Demonstrated understanding and exposure to both Biosecurity and Animal Welfare principles
