About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for an Avionics Engineer to make a valuable contribution on autonomous aircraft systems. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will be based at either Melbourne CBD or Perth locations and will be employed on a permanent and full time basis. Other interstate locations will also be considered.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and/ or hybrid working.

Key responsibilities include:

Design, develop and integrate avionic/electronic systems and equipment for autonomous aircraft including flight control, navigation, sensors, and communication subsystems
Utilise design capture and analysis tools effectively to produce high quality avionics engineering designs and products including interpretation of analysis results
Act as a point of contact and provide technical leadership to engineers, and establish good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Identify and investigate engineering problems and risks, formulate strategies for their resolution
About YOU

Extensive avionics engineering experience or electronics engineering experience on aircraft.
Experience with aircraft writing standards and various avionics systems such as flight control, navigation, sensors and communication subsystems
A relevant tertiary engineering degree, the ability to investigate and resolve engineering technical risks/problems
Experience with radio frequency systems relevant to UAS/RPAS application, including telemetry, datalinks, and secure communication protocols
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with customers, internal and external stakeholders
Whilst not essential, engineering experience with Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), will be highly regarded
Whilst not essential, experience with Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulations and tools such as Matlab/Simulink will be highly regarded
