Aviation Security Officer, Aviation Security Service | Christchurch Airport, $72,187 per annum (pro rata) | Part-Time. These vacancies relate to frontline roles within Aviation Security at the Civil Aviation Authority.

About the role New Zealand borders are back open and we are experiencing a huge growth in travel, so now is a great time to join us as an Aviation Security Officer (ASO). We have several permanent part time positions available for our intake commencing in September 2024. We are offering a contract of 32.5 hours per week, consisting of 6.5 hours per day (minimum) in a 6 day on 3 day off shift pattern.

As an ASO you'll be responsible for carrying out pre-flight security screening and hold baggage screening of departing passengers and their baggage. Using a variety of equipment and processes to ensure safety within the aerodrome is not compromised. Perform mobile, foot and static patrols in assigned areas.

Carrying out checks to ensure ID cards are displayed appropriately in security areas. Prevent breaches of aviation security and safety in assigned areas. We offer a comprehensive six-week training period where you get paid to learn and come out with a NZQA Level 4 qualification. Our training is classroom based as well as on the job experience in our operation.

Why join us aviation Security Officers have a starting base-salary of $72,187 per annum (pro rata when part time). In addition to 20 days of annual leave and 12 days sick leave per annum, our Aviation Security Officers are entitled to shift workers and AvSec holiday leave, excellent training, free parking, and full uniform.

We work a 6/3 shift pattern (three early shifts, three late shifts and three days off) seven days a week, which can provide great work/life balance and free up your time to pursue your own personal interests.

To be considered for a career with AvSec, you must meet the following pre-requisites New Zealand/Australian citizenship or New Zealand residency. Willing to comply with all required Health and Safety procedures. Medically and physically fit and willing to undertake a medical assessment by a licensed practitioner. Able to work a shift pattern of 6 days on and 3 days off (with early starts and late finishes). Possess a full clean New Zealand driver's licence.

To be considered for the September 2024 intake, you must be available to attend an evening Assessment Centre in person, as well as a daytime face-to-face interview in Christchurch if selected to progress, during mid to late June/early July 2024. Due to the requirements of the role those with colour vision deficiencies, recent serious injuries or criminal convictions will not be considered.
