Aviation Security Officer CAA Avsec location Auckland. $70,084 per annum.

We have multiple vacancies for great people to join us to become Aviation Security Officers in our Auckland team and continue keeping New Zealand's skies safe and secure.

Why join us Aviation Security Officers have a starting base-salary of $70,084 per annum (pro-rated where hours are part-time). What do you need to be considered for a career with AvSec, you must have the following New Zealand/Australian citizenship or New Zealand residency. A full clean New Zealand driver's licence. Willing to comply with all required Health and Safety procedures. Medically and physically fit, and willing to undertake a medical assessment by a licensed practitioner. Able to work a shift pattern of 6 days on and 3 days off - this includes a variety of morning, late and night shift start times.

About the role Aviation Security Officers are required to undertake a paid training course, working 8.5 hours a day upon starting their role. This training is classroom-based and will be completed over six weeks. This will require you to attend some classroom-based courses located in either Christchurch or Auckland, as well as on-job experience in our operation. Once you have completed this training, you will obtain a NZQA Level 4 qualification and ongoing development opportunities are offered.

Once signed-off as fully competent in the role, Aviation Security Officers have the following responsibilities carry out pre-flight security screening and hold baggage screening of departing passengers and their baggage. Use a variety of equipment and processes to ensure safety within the aerodrome is not compromised. Perform mobile, foot and static patrols in assigned areas. Carry out checks to ensure ID cards are displayed appropriately in security areas. Prevent breaches of aviation security and safety in the area assigned.

Important notes due to the requirements of the role those with colour vision deficiencies, recent serious injuries or criminal convictions will not be considered.

Due to the intensive training requirements and operational demands of this role, longer periods of leave requests during the initial training schedule (approximately 3-4 months from start date) are unlikely to be approved. Any leave requests after the initial training schedule must be discussed with your Operations Manager at the time of appointment to the role.
