Hotel Woolstore 1888 – Handwritten Collection, one of Sydney’s most iconic heritage hotels, is offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join our passionate front office leadership team.
Located in the heart of Darling Harbour, our hotel seamlessly blends historic charm with contemporary design. Guests enjoy an immersive experience of industrial-chic interiors enhanced by modern and pop art influences.
Originally built in 1888, Hotel Woolstore 1888 is the fourth oldest of the 21 remaining wool stores in Sydney. This five-storey sandstone and brick building has been thoughtfully reimagined into a boutique hotel, featuring 90 individually designed guestrooms, a multi-award-winning neighbourhood restaurant and bar, and a range of flexible spaces for meetings and events.

Job Description
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Assistant Manager or Duty Manager to become a key part of our Front Office leadership team at Hotel Woolstore 1888 – Handwritten Collection.
This fixed-term, part-time position offers a unique combination of front office and reservations responsibilities—ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives in a dynamic, guest-focused environment. As a leader on the floor, you will oversee daily hotel operations, support and guide the team, and help shape the guest journey from reservation through to check-out.
In this role, you will:
Oversee day-to-day hotel operations, acting as the shift lead and ensuring smooth service delivery across all guest touchpoints
Lead by example, coaching and supporting the team to maintain a high standard of hospitality
Manage guest inquiries, feedback, and recovery with professionalism and care
Coordinate and manage reservations, contributing to reservation accuracy and revenue optimization
Promote clear communication and collaboration across departments
Inspire a positive, safe, and productive workplace culture through active leadership and team support
Assist with rostering, operational planning, and the recruitment, training, and development of the Front Office teams
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
Proven leadership experience in hotel operations, with a genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest service
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect confidently with guests, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels
A clear, articulate communicator who excels at building relationships and navigating challenges with professionalism
Adaptable and solution-focused, with the ability to embrace change and remain calm under pressure
Availability to work across a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
