Assistant Accountant Manufacturing Sector MPV and Associates location Sydney. About The Role are you keen for a role that will give you both autonomy and teamwork. Due to the ongoing expansion of the Australian and off-shore operations, and the extensive export business, our client has a vacancy for an energetic, focused and results driven individual who wishes to develop their career further in a positive culture with empowered and supportive management. This position has no line responsibilities and offers the opportunity to provide direct to your line manager and indirect support to the diverse team that makes up the Australian operation spanning three states and the expanding New Zealand business. This is a pivotal position, reporting to the Finance Manager. This national organisation has an enviable reputation and extensive experience within their market sector. The business is rapidly expanding and enjoys a strong market presence. Your Attributes experience in a similar or accounts payable role or perhaps you have completed some formal qualifications and are now seeking that next step into an accounting focused position. An excellent and pleasant telephone manner, with a customer orientation towards diplomacy and an ability to deal effectively with challenging customers and situations. Sound oral and written skills, good listening and questioning skills. It is essential that you build rapport with customers, maintain confidentiality in all areas and apply sound negotiating and problem-solving skills, with a view to creating a 'win win' outcome at all times. The ability to liaise with company team member Australia wide is essential. Able to set and meet priorities, along with meeting your quarterly and annual KPI's, to remain flexible, show initiative, with attention to detail and the demonstrable ability to multi-task. Extensive skills in MS Office, including Excel, MYOB and a willingness to learn new software, as the business will be migrating to an ERP system shortly (M1, SAP or Dynamics 365). Able to work under pressure, assist your direct manager and another team member who is responsible for administration tasks. Able to demonstrate an ownership of your role ability to develop a sound understanding of the company's market position, which will enable you to gain an overview of the unique financial advantages and stresses that this role will afford. Above all this role requires a team player and someone who wishes to learn and grow. Formal studies: Diploma of Accounting, maybe the Advanced Diploma of Accounting, perhaps you are an undergraduate who has recently migrated to a part-time course load in order to gain experience. Certificate IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping would be the minimum level and you would need to be willing to proceed to a Diploma qualification on a part-time basis in your own time. Daily responsibilities accounts payable check & marry delivery receipts for all invoices received daily, query discrepancies, follow up weekly, with production on missing delivery receipts, receive weekly sub-contractors, employee installer & labour hire timesheets each monday and confirm the timesheets with projects team by cob wednesday (back-up), weekly pay to sub-contractors, employee installers each thursday (back-up), credit card reconciliations, credit card statements, allocate & receive bank statements from cardholders, enter credit card statements into system: all functions month beginning, end of month payments follow up with suppliers on monthly statement by second last day of the month and prepare a list of end of month payments on last day of the month, prepare end of month payments as per credit terms, including fx payments (training will be provided), accounts receivable raise maintenance/service invoices daily as requested by maintenance coordinator, end of month collection for maintenance invoices, set up small projects, $50,000 in order value in accounting system for both production and projects, collections on smaller projects, $50,000 in order value, raise project invoices, prepare commercial invoices for production, for export & new zealand orders, daily payment recorded from bank into accounting system and advise projects on payment received, weekly banking reconciliation, payroll weekly & monthly for 40-50 people, data entry responsibility to be shared with the administrator/receptionist, to maximise 'cross-training', this is definitely a multi-faceted position, requiring a strong work ethic and a multi-tasking approach, maintain an orderly and clean work area, major challenges, to adapt to a rapidly growing business, and to be prepared to 'step-up' after a period of training and undertake 2ic responsibilities to the finance manager, to demonstrate initiative and application at all times.
