Assistant Accountant Racing Victoria location Melbourne. Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of the racing of thoroughbred horses in Victoria to safeguard its integrity. We are looking for a suitably qualified Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team. The opportunity the role of an assistant accountant at rv is responsible to assist the finance manager by providing accurate and timely professional accounting support to the Finance team. You will be a team player, confident and proactive in your interactions with various and diverse stakeholders to achieve a desirable outcome. Key Responsibilities are but not limited to support the finance operations team including assisting with financial reporting and month end tasks, assist in the accurate and timely monthly reconciliation of general ledger balance sheet accounts for rv, assist in the stakes payment and reconciliation of prize money to industry participants, involvement in budgeting / mid-year review process, assistance in year-end statutory accounts production and external audit process, assist in the delivery and compliance of indirect tax returns (namely bas, fbt and payroll tax) for rv and associated entities, assist the finance processing team with accounts payable and credit control in times of high demand, assist the maintenance of apprentice jockey trust accounts. About you as the successful candidate, you must possess the following formal accounting qualification or working towards an accounting qualification, demonstrated proven practical experience using erp accounting software, proven analytical problem-solving skills and demonstrated attention to detail, competence with microsoft office in programs, in particular excel, demonstrated interpersonal skills which facilitate effective interaction and communication with a broad range of stakeholders, team focused with sound organisational skills, and the ability to undertake multiple activities, demonstrated commitment to the principles of customer service, knowledge of thoroughbred racing an advantage.
