The opportunity Since finance touches on so many parts of Compass, it creates lots of opportunities to move in the operational and commercial space and one such exciting opportunity is for an Assistant Accountant based at our National Support Office in Auckland. This position provides support to the finance team and the wider Compass Group New Zealand (CGNZ) to perform, including but not limited to timely, accurate, and efficient month-end closing, GST and FBT returns, Fixed Asset Register maintenance, Lease contract and Lease Accounting, cost allocation, Year End audit and improving internal finance and operating controls.

Your responsibilities accounting duties including Fixed Asset Register maintenance for Accounting and Tax, Daily reconciliations of all the bank accounts etc. Auditing & Compliance - assisting in the year-end audit, preparation of financial statements, Participating in all financial auditing processes etc.

Maintaining complete and clear notes to aid visibility and future interrogation as well as using formal and informal opportunities to talk with stakeholders and influence decision-making to ensure sound positive outcomes.

Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and streamlining of existing financial processes and workflows and adherence to internal control requirements (Key Financial Controls). Participate in business improvement and efficiency projects and participate in cross-functional project teams.

About you newly graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. Strong numeric and reconciliation skills. Working knowledge of all MS Office programmes. Strong time management skills.
