About the role as an assistant accountant in a wholesale business in New Zealand, your job description is likely to include a variety of financial and accounting tasks. Some of the key responsibilities that you might expect to undertake in this role could include assisting in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciling accounts, analysing financial data, and preparing journal entries.

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Assisting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts and monitoring actual performance against these targets. Conducting financial analysis to identify trends and provide insights to management about the financial performance of the business.

Assisting with the preparation of tax returns and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. Collaborating with other departments within the business to ensure that financial data is accurate and that financial processes are efficient. Assisting with the implementation of new financial systems or processes, as required.

Who are we looking for a friendly professional with a minimum 4+ years of experience as an Assistant Accountant. Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills. Financial systems experience - experience with Xero is essential and simPRO would be advantageous. Highly organised and detail-oriented - the ability to complete tasks with high accuracy levels. Ability to work independently and collaboratewith staff.
