Arms Officer New Zealand Police location Waikato.

About the role as a Arms Officer you will be involved in the management of firearm licensing from issuing new or renewal licenses, linking with Dealers, Collectors, Pistol clubs and license holders contributing to keeping the community safe. You will be part of a high performing, productive team based in Hamilton, and see you in an integral role focused around upholding the provisions on the Arms Act with both internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be experienced in maintaining and handling various firearms, with the ability to review, investigate and make decisions based on the Arms Act. Equally, the successful candidate will be proficient on computer systems and have a keen eye for detail. We work collaboratively across the organisation with various workgroups and with our external partners. Your role will involve managing the end to end licencing process and Arms Act management. You'll enjoy the variety - no two days will be the same! You will need to be able to multi-task, work well under pressure and be able to complete all work with accuracy. A Firearm Licence and full driver's license is also helpful as you may have to drive our work vehicles from time to time.

Special requirements to apply for this role you must be a NZ or Australian Citizen or NZ permanent resident. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a full reference and security check prior to any offer of employment being made. Successful applicant must reside in Hamilton region. Successful applicant must hold a current Firearms License.
