About the role the Online Child Exploitation Across New Zealand (OCEANZ) Team is a specialist Police Unit focussing on the protection of children from online abuse. We are currently seeking an employee to join the team as an Authorised Officer. As an OCEANZ Investigator, you will lead and support investigations into cyber-enabled Online Child Exploitation.

Successful applicants will have the unique opportunity to contribute to specialised investigations including through online engagements and identifying new investigative techniques. COLT is looking for investigators who are self-motivated, passionate, have a positive mindset and capable of thinking outside the box when problem solving. They must be proactive in identifying opportunities to disrupt cyber-enabled Online Child Exploitation.

This role is unique as online offending is borderless and requires investigators to build effective relationships with both domestic and international law enforcement partners. The role requires the highest level of integrity and an interest in covert policing. The position is subject to rotation based on COLT operational demands and individual development.

Key accountabilities partnerships - Foster and maintain effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders. United - Supports and leads Online Child Exploitation and Organised Crime investigations. Prioritisation - Manage support to investigations and time effectively.

To be successful in this role you will require the following previous experience in an investigations-based role and is desirable. Knowledge and experience of best practice investigation processes. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. A positive, engaged work ethic and mindset - able to self-manage when required. The ability to manage competing demands and deliver work within strict timeframes.

Special requirements must complete NZ Police COLT Authorised Officer Accreditation within 12 months of appointment. Successful candidate must reside in the Wellington District or be willing to relocate. Position is subject to rotation within the Covert Online Team. Appointment may be subject to pre-employment testing (psychological/technical assessment).

Security Clearance requirements to be eligible for this role, you must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance. The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years.

A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.  This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".

Salary this position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 and $91,353 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
