Volunteer Care Coordinator. Reporting to: Mercy Ships New Zealand National Director. Direct Reports : None. Key Stakeholders: Recruitment applicants, Global Recruiting, MSNZ Recruiting Team, MSNZ Staff. Employment Type: Full or Part time (30 – 40 hours) Permanent. Location: Auckland (possibly remote for the right candidate).

Overview mercy Ships New Zealand (MSNZ) is a faith-based charity focused on raising awareness, recruiting volunteers, and fundraising for the world’s largest civilian hospital ships, Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, which provide medical services in sub-Saharan Africa. Mercy Ships vision it to use hospital ships to transform lives and serve nations, with its mission of following the example of Jesus bringing hope and healing to the world’s forgotten poor.

The Volunteer Care Coordinator will play a critical role in coordinating and supporting volunteer applicants and enhancing their volunteer journey. They will link interested volunteers into the application system, working closely with the Volunteer Recruiters supporting the administrative systems in place. The Volunteer Care coordinator will be the conduit and go to person for NZ crew on board the ship and alumni who have returned from the ship.

Key responsibilities networking and sourcing develop a comprehensive talent pool from various sources, including alumni, referrals, online platforms (LinkedIn, Indeed, Idealist). Engage and support the NZ talent pool of interested volunteers. Work with the Lead Recruiters in seeking passive candidates using online tools and search resources. Coordinate initiatives via career centres, churches, academic departments, and specialty networks.

System and Process Improvement Implement Salesforce, Pardot and any other systems and processes into MSNZ Volunteer Recruitment procedures. Work closely with and follow up with in-progress applicants to support their submission success.

Assist in a seamless application process for New Zealand applicants. Support the development of NZ plans for position-focused recruiting strategies. Collaborate with MSNZ recruitment campaigns and assist with conferences and recruiting opportunities.

Data Analysis and reporting assist in analysing engagement journey metrics from global and local digital tools to inform strategies. Utilise ship staffing plans to assist in building and reviewing the recruitment plan. Some basic accounts input and reconciliations required through the Xero financial system. General administrative tasks that may be required from time to time.

Marketing and advertising support recruiters in researching advertising venues and developing effective ads and job postings. Place approved advertisements and monitor their effectiveness.

Skills, Knowledge, and experience essential outgoing, motivated, self-starter with strong administrative and organisational skills. Experience in Microsoft Office and Excel. Computer literate. Confident and competent communicator, including phone, email and online calls. Able to seek out answers and follow up tenaciously. Proven capability of leveraging CRM systems for communication and cross team collaboration.

Beneficial previous marketing experience. Experience in data collection and collation. Knowledge of Salesforce/Pardot, Dayforce, Hola and Linkedin. Experience in planning in medical and other fields. Proven ability to follow up with supporters of volunteers and work with international referrals.

Advocates for applicants and collaborates closely with New Zealand staff and the global recruiting team.

Represents Mercy Ships’ mission of following the 2000-year-old model of Jesus in providing hope and healing. Participates in Mercy Ships New Zealand office activities including devotions based on Don Stephens, ‘Daily dose of mercy’, staff development and team meetings.

The salary for this role is approximately $55k – $62k. The Auckland office is based in Greenlane.
