About the role New Zealand Police is the lead agency responsible for reducing crime and enhancing community safety. We work in partnership with individuals, communities, businesses and other public sector agencies to achieve our vision of Safer Communities Together.

Rotorua Police is operating various initiatives to partner with iwi/hapu, government agencies and non-government organisations to reduce family harm in communities. The models build on existing relationships with local iwi/hapu, government agencies and non-government organisations to form partnerships to develop a collaborative approach to responding and providing services to those family/whanau who are experiencing family harm.

The Rotorua Police Family Harm team has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced person to join the Collective Impact Daily Meeting Team (daily Tier one table) in the Family Harm Administrator role. The role requires you to be able to assist in the co-ordination and facilitation of the daily family harm safety assessment meetings, including related activities both internally and externally, so as to enhance the quality of service to the community and our partners. This role will be based at Rotorua Police Station and you will play an integral role in a unique and dynamic team.

The successful applicant can expect to build and maintain critical relationships within the Family Harm team including the Family Intervention Team, Paearahi, local Iwi/hapu representatives, partner agencies, NGOs, local community groups and service providers as they align with the Rotorua Family Harm Collective.

Key accountabilities manage and support daily operations. Enable Family Harm response team members to focus on problem solving and actions to support family safety. Provide accurate administrative action that is aligned to national guidelines and local governance direction for the relevant Family Harm response model. Help to facilitate and coordinate the daily Safety Assessment Meetings. Have an understanding of Tikanga Maori and the ability to interpret police and guidelines while working collaboratively with diverse groups to achieve results.

This is a demanding but rewarding position that requires the following technical skills you will need to demonstrate a highly developed set of administrative skills, including data entry processes, minute taking, maintain accurate computer based records, keep detailed information around decisions made and have experience with facilitating meetings. Demonstrate excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritise workload and work exceptionally well under pressure. Demonstrate an ability to work well with a variety of internal and external clients, as well as build and maintain strong relationships with local and specialist agency professionals. Contribute to the Family Harm team through portfolio responsibilities as agreed.
