Due to a period of unprecedented growth, a vacancy has arisen in our Moorabbin Prosecutions Unit. The Southern Prosecutions Region consists of Moorabbin Prosecutions Unit, Dandenong Prosecutions Unit and Frankston Prosecutions Unit, and the units are attached to the Prosecutions Division - Courts Branch, under the command of Legal Services Department, Victoria Police.

The advertised position will form a vital support role to Moorabbin Police Prosecutions, providing daily administrative support to a high-functioning team of prosecutors and police lawyers so they can fulfil their core functions; the provision of independent and professional prosecution services to the community of Victoria by supporting judicial proceedings on behalf of Victoria Police. Your duties will include provide a wide range of administrative support functions to the team, including preparation and administrative management of a large number of court files and correspondence. Support and advocate the professional image of Victoria Police when acting as first point of contact to telephone, email and in-person enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Manage a high volume of data entry and filing, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality is applied to all records and databases. Provide quality services to internal stakeholders, ensuring that tasks are completed accurately and within expected timeframes. Provide executive support, including minute-taking for confidential and general meetings. Driving an unmarked police vehicle and on occasions dropping off police briefs and correspondence at Court. Participate in team-meetings and discussions as appropriate.

As the successful applicant, you will have demonstrated experience performing administrative support functions. Capability to work autonomously and within a team environment, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing workload priorities. A solution-focused and service excellence objective. Strong IT literacy skills. Proficient time-management skills. Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation skills.

A well-developed professional telephone manner and a commitment to service excellence. Experience working in the justice environment would be seen as an advantage, but is not essential. Previous experience in a similar role managing sensitive material would advantageous.

Requirements and relevant information one (1) x full-time, ongoing position available. This position is located at Moorabbin Prosecutions Unit, 1140 Nepean Highway, Highett.

The salary range for a VPS2 role is $56,271 to $72,262 (covering salary ranges VPSG 2.1 and VPSG 2.2). Although it is standard practice for selected candidates to commence at the base of the salary range, genuine consideration will be given to a commencement salary within the available range that is commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills and experiences. This will be subject to negotiations with the Hiring Manager in the course of the selection process and may include the provision of evidence of a higher income and/or supporting documentation (as required).

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa. The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening. In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception. As such your employment with Victoria Police is subject to providing evidence of your vaccination status.

As a member of the Legal Services Department you will be located, on selection, at a specific office within a Division for a particular advertised opportunity.  However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department.  This supports the Departments commitment to a flexible and deployable legal workforce and professional development opportunities in a range of legal domains. Successful candidates will be required to possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify for an appropriate Victoria Police driving authority within three (3) months.
