A short-term vacancy has arisen in our Morwell Prosecutions Unit. Morwell Prosecutions is one of four prosecution units within the South East Prosecutions Region. The South East Prosecutions Region consists of Morwell, South Gippsland, Sale and Bairnsdale Prosecution Units, who together service seven court locations within Regional Gippsland, Victoria. The units are attached to the Prosecutions Division - Courts Branch, under the command of Legal Services Department, Victoria Police.

The advertised position will form a vital support role to Morwell Prosecutions, providing daily administrative support to a high-functioning team of prosecutors and police lawyers so they can fulfil their core functions; the provision of independent and professional prosecution services to the community of Victoria by supporting judicial proceedings on behalf of Victoria Police.

The vacancy is also likely to coincide with a planned relocation of the unit to a new office location in Morwell. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in assisting the unit relocate, settle into the new work location and re-establish administration functionality at the new office. Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and support flexible working arrangements. Your duties will include provide a wide-range of administrative support functions to the team, including preparation and administrative management of a large number of court files and correspondence. Support and advocate the professional image of Victoria Police when acting as first point of contact to telephone, email and in-person enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Manage a high volume of data entry and filing, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality is applied to all records and databases. Provide quality services to internal stakeholders, ensuring that tasks are completed accurately and within expected timeframes. Provide executive support, including minute-taking for confidential and general meetings. Participate in team-meetings and discussions as appropriate.

As the successful applicant, you will have demonstrated experience performing administrative support functions. Capability to work autonomously and within a team-environment, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing workload priorities a solution-focused and service excellence objective. Strong IT literacy skills.

Proficient time-management skills. Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation skills. A well-developed professional telephone manner and a commitment to service excellence. Experience working in the justice environment would be seen as an advantage, but is not essential. Previous experience in a similar role managing sensitive material would also be advantageous.

Requirements and relevant information this position is a fixed term opportunity, from 10 September 2020 to 4 December 2020 (inclusive). The position is located at Morwell Prosecutions Unit.  However, in order to support the Legal Services Department's commitment to a flexible and deployable legal workforce and professional development opportunities throughout the Legal Services Department, the successful applicant may be asked to work at other locations within the Department.

This will be managed in accordance with the provisions of the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2016. Be the holder of a current Victorian Drivers Licence. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
