Administrative Officer The University of Western Australia location Perth.

Level 6 appointment on a casual basis to November 30th 2023. 30 hours/fortnight (flexible days and hours). Hourly rate: $54 + 10.5% superannuation.

About the team the UWA Defence and Security Institute (DSI) is committed to serving as a hub for the university and the WA community, drawing together UWA academics and researchers with practitioners and partners across the State and the nation. With a focus on the dynamic Indo-Pacific region we leverage local perspectives and expertise on issues such as disruptive and converging technologies; defence industry; defence capability development and maritime security; Australia’s international and defence relations and regional security.

About the opportunity as the appointee to this position you will provide administrative, planning, communications, and executive support for the UWA Defence and Security Institute (DSI). You will draw from internal and external expertise and leadership to respond to complex and diverse enquiries, provide informed advice, problem solve, promote the activities of UWA DSI, drive continuous improvement for the area and provide high level administrative support to key projects. You will also be expected to provide support for a range of UWA DSI events and activities, during and occasionally after usual business hours.

About you to be considered for this role, you will demonstrate relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent competency. Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email. Experience managing contact databases, generating branded communication materials, conducting social media analyses and providing general website assistance.

Experience assisting with event logistics and coordination. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and consultation skills. Excellent planning and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to contribute to long term planning and strategic direction. Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team. Commitment to providing a high level of quality customer service.
