Administration Officer Ministry of Justice location Wellington.

About the role the Office of the Chief District Court Judge is looking for an administration officer to join a small dedicated team in supporting the leadership of the District Court and the wider District Court Bench. The successful candidate will work closely with the Judicial Administrator to the Chief District Court Judge, and the Executive Assistants to the Chief District Court Judge, Principal Family Court Judge, Principal Youth Court Judge and National Executive Judge.

This position is Wellington-based. We are looking for an experienced administration officer; someone who is confident with a warm personality, who is pro-active and remains calm under pressure. You will be an excellent communicator and have strong interpersonal skills, be IT savvy, and able to work efficiently and manage competing priorities together with being well organised.  Nimbleness is a must.

Skills and experience in this role you will be required to provide administrative support relating to expenses, travel, and general account keeping on a share basis. This will involve regular contact with District Court Judges. Provide professional and courteous reception and telephonist services on a shared basis. Provide day to day support to the Judicial Administrator to the Chief District Court Judge.

To be successful in this role the following is required excellent interpersonal and communication/listening skills.

Previous experience in office management practices including reception management. Accurate data entry skills. High standard of discretion. Problem solving skills. An ability to work both collaboratively and individually. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite, Excel or similar financial management software. A driver's licence is essential.
