Job description administration Assistant, Clerk Grade 1/2 – Cooma Community Corrections, Corrective Services NSW. Temporary (up to 12 months). Provide administration support. $64,973 pa + super and annual leave. Full time/ 12-month temporary opportunity.

About the company the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) was formed in 2019 with the merger of two former departments Family and Community Services (FACS) and Justice. By combining FACS and Justice, the two former agencies are now able to work together as DCJ to support everyone’s right to access justice, to help families, and to promote early intervention and inclusion, in order to provide benefits for the whole community.

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety. It serves a key function of the NSW Communities & Justice sector by providing effective, safe and humane management of offenders both in custody and in the community CSNSW also works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that offenders and their families are supported.

Community Corrections is one arm of CSNSW that supervises offenders who are subject to community-based orders imposed by the courts or State Parole Authority. Community Corrections aims to reduce the impact of crime on the community by effectively case managing offenders to achieve resettlement and successful order completion.

About the role support managers and work teams within Community Corrections. Undertake general administration duties, finance, procurement, and offender and office records maintenance. Respond to inquiries by stakeholders and offenders over the telephone and via reception duties.

Generate routine correspondence with a view to exchanging factual information whilst exercising discretion and judgment at all times, seeking supervisory direction as necessary. Participate in the proceedings of meetings and provide executive support and follow up on actions as necessary, whilst keeping all participants and stakeholders informed.

About you understanding and confidence in using computers & software. Ability to work as part of a team & independently. Willing to develop and apply new skills. Willing to provide customer service to offenders.
