Administration Assistant Department of Communities and Justice location Sydney.
Your role the Administration Officer provides support services to administrative staff and other team members to ensure the efficient operation of the Housing Appeals Committee (HAC) team. The HAC is an independent appeals mechanism for social housing clients in NSW.
The committee Secretariat operates as a business unit of the Housing, Homelessness & Disability. Directorate in order to support the HAC operations and obtain administrative and business support. Appeals can be made to the HAC about certain decisions of DCJ Housing Services, Community.
Housing or Aboriginal Community Housing organisations providing long term housing. Appeals are administrative reconsiderations of decisions made across a wide range of issues affecting tenants of social housing and applicants for social housing services. The HAC reviews decisions to see if they are fair, reasonable and made within the policy of the housing provider.
What you'll do as part of the HAC team, you'll provide administrative support including filing, maintenance of registers, routine purchasing, meeting and event support, copying and creating and compiling documents. You will be organised, adaptable and possess the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.
You will also prepare matters for hearings including organising papers for committee members, notify parties, arrange interpreters and travel for members and make arrangements for clients with special needs.
In this role there will be face to face contact with clients and their advocates. You'll be the main contact for the team, and you'll respond and direct enquiries, calls and emails as part of your day-to-day duties.
You'll be working in a team of seven in an organisation that supports flexible working. Our office is located in Burwood.
