The Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School (‘TBSSS’) is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated person, with excellent administrative skills and attention to detail, to assist in the administration of the School. The role would involve general reception duties, student enrolments and liaison, database entry and maintenance, some marketing duties, financial reconciliations with the Bookkeeper, administration support to teachers and the Manager, materials ordering, and generally ensuring the smooth running of the School.

Founded in 1974 by Tom Bass AM (1916 – 2010), TBSSS is Australia’s premier independent/community sculpture school. The School is a small not-for-profit arts organization located in the Erskineville, in the City of Sydney LGA with 3 part-time staff (an Operations Manager, Bookkeeper, and Administration Assistant). The successful applicant would work directly with and report to both the Manager and Bookkeeper.

Role type this is a part-time permanent position. In particular, the role is a 0.3FTE (12 hours/week) split over 2-3 days (Wednesday / Thursday and must be available Friday). Precise working times are negotiable. The role may therefore appeal to graduate university students or those seeking a role with limited working hours. Ideally the successful candidate will be available to start immediately.

Remuneration $28 - $30 per hour + super, dependent on experience. Essential skills/requirements. Excellent administrative/office skills. Sound IT skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Very strong oral and written communications skills (particularly phone and e-mail manner). Excellent attention to detail, particularly in relation to financial transactions. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a small team. Excellent time management skills and able to work to deadlines. Able to work during school holiday periods with the possibility of extra hours during these periods by mutual arrangement.

Desirable skills familiarity with Filemaker Pro, or other database management skills. Some marketing experience. Some knowledge on maintaining a website. An interest in the arts, particularly visual arts and sculpture. Hold a full drivers license. Application process.
