Coastal Engineer or Scientist Baird Australia location Sydney. Baird are a specialist coastal, ocean and port consultancy recognised internationally for coastal engineering and science. Our team work with clients in government and industry to provide innovative, practical, cost-effective and sustainable solutions to challenging design and management problems in the coastal and ocean environment.  Our Australian team is a dynamic group, led by professionals who are recognised nationally and internationally as the emerging leaders in their speciality fields.  Baird’s Australian offices are located in Sydney and Perth. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Coastal Engineer or Scientist to join our Sydney office. The position is ideal for a coastal engineering or oceanography graduate or recent graduate with up to 3 years' experience.  The role offers a hands-on practical introduction to coastal process investigations, with exposure to numerical modelling and data analysis, whilst providing general assistance to our team in other areas such as programming, GIS and data compilation.  This diverse role will include mentoring and advice from experienced engineering and science professionals.  Baird undertake projects throughout Australia and there will be opportunities to be involved in projects worldwide as part of the global Baird team. To be successful in this role you will require the following capabilities and experience a bachelor level degree in engineering (civil or environmental), applied science (oceanography) or equivalent, strong capability and interest in data analytics and problem solving, previous experience and/or a strong interest in coastal processes, experience in and/or keen interest to learn numerical modelling (hydrodynamics and waves), experience in programming (preferably in matlab or python) would be beneficial, excellent people and communication skills, an ability to work within a team environment and individually, be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a willingness to travel, have an existing and valid right to work in australia.
