About the role as general leading hand, your role is to provide hands-on support, supervision and coordination of site personnel and subcontractors, report on relevant site activities and manage the quality of the work performed. The General Leading Hand is also responsible for ensuring safe, compliant and effective practices are maintained in line with Work, Health and Safety legislation and project requirements. Skills and experience australian citizenship, unrestricted driver licence, minimum cert iii trade qualification with trade experience in the construction industry (carpentry qualification highly regarded), relevant hands-on supervisory experience (or ready to step-up) and take a step towards leading hand, hazardous materials awareness, training and experience essential, general knowledge of the building industry, responsible and be able to work independently, excellent written and verbal communication skills, punctual, reliable, hardworking and well-organised, high attention to detail. Your responsibilities will include act as an 'on-site' point of contact between primary and secondary client(s) and pcb management, drive the sub-contractors for project delivery in line with programme while maintaining strong relations, ensure workers/trades and other relevant personnel are completing works on-time, escort tradesmen and personnel on defence bases, liaise with workers, trades and their supervisors, mediate on-site concerns with upper management, monitor the progress of sub-contractors in order to determine suitability for future work, read, understand and comply with conditions set out in pcb's and relevant client risk management policy and procedures, encourage and promote behaviour consistent with pcb's policies and procedures.
